# Invite team members and manage roles

> Separate dashboard access from employee survey invitations, then assign the right workspace role.

Culture Vibe has two different invitation systems. Use **Team** to give someone dashboard access. Use **Employees** and a survey audience to invite someone to answer a survey.

<Warning>
  Adding a person to the employee roster or sending them a survey invitation does **not** create a Culture Vibe dashboard account. Inviting a Team member does **not** automatically add that person to the employee roster or a survey audience.
</Warning>

## Dashboard access versus survey participation

|                                | Team invitation                                                  | Survey invitation                                                     |

| **Purpose** | Give someone access to the organization’s Culture Vibe dashboard | Ask an employee to answer one survey or pulse cycle |
| **Created from** | **Team** | **Employees** and the survey or pulse audience |
| **What the recipient gets** | A workspace invitation and a role | A private response link for the specific survey |
| **Dashboard sign-in**          | Yes, after joining the workspace                                 | No                                                                    |
| **Role assigned** | Admin, Member, or Viewer | None |
| **Access to results** | Depends on the workspace role | No dashboard access from the survey link |
| **Used in response reporting** | Not automatically | Yes, according to the survey’s audience and demographic configuration |

The same person can be both a workspace user and a survey participant, but you must manage the two records separately.

## Invite someone to the dashboard

Owners and Admins can manage access from **Team**.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Team">
    Go to **Team** to see active members and pending invitations.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose Invite member">
    Enter the person’s email address and select Admin, Member, or Viewer.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Send the invitation">
    The recipient uses the workspace invitation to join the organization and sign in to the dashboard.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Review the invitation">
    Resend or revoke a pending invitation when needed. After the person joins, update their role from the member list.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Workspace roles

### Owner

Owners have full workspace control. They can manage members and roles, including the Owner role. Culture Vibe prevents removal of the workspace’s last Owner.

### Admin

Admins can manage the team, settings, surveys, employees, pulse programs, and other HR workflows. They can invite Admins, Members, and Viewers and change the roles of non-Owners.

### Viewer

Viewers have read-only access to insight surfaces such as the dashboard, survey analytics, and comments. They cannot manage the roster, settings, surveys, or action workflows.

### Member

Members use the member-facing areas available to them. Member is not an HR management role and does not grant access to the organization’s insight dashboards.

<Note>
  Workspace roles are different from Culture Vibe’s internal platform-admin role. Customer Team access never grants the cross-organization platform Admin console.
</Note>

## Invite employees to a survey

To collect a response, first add the person to **Employees** or include them through the intended audience workflow. Publishing the survey creates a survey-specific invitation or shared link.

A personal survey invitation:

* Opens only the respondent flow for that survey.
* Does not let the employee browse the dashboard.
* Does not assign Owner, Admin, Member, or Viewer.
* Can track delivery and completion without granting workspace access.
